5-step Cheese, Potato and Onion Pie
5-step Cheese, Potato and Onion Pie
For our first savoury entry in this blog, we chose an amazing pie that all will adore!
You Will Need:230g pre-made puff roll pastry / or make your own
200g grated cheese
2 onions (peeled and very finely chopped)
4 tablespoons cream cheese
1 teaspoon English mustard powder
6 to 8 tablespoons cold cooked mashed potatoes (we used powdered that we made on the spot but you can make your own with 4 potatoes)
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
Step 1
Pre-heat oven to 200C/180 fan. Grease a 20cm/8" pie dish/tin.
Step 2
Combine the grated cheese, grated onion, cream cheese, English mustard powder and cold mashed potato together, and make sure they are well mixed. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste and set to one side.
Step 3
If your pastry is ready rolled, then place it inside the tin and save any extra little pieces. Seal nicely around the top so it doesn't fall in, and push it all into the corners
Step 4
Spoon the cheese and potato filling into the lined pie dish.
Step 5
Use the leftover pieces to make a small cross or lattice across the top, then place the pie on a baking sheet, and bake it for 30 to 35 minutes. Leave the pie to rest for 5 minutes or so, and then cut it in slices to serve.
This Pie was really nice, although if you want to add extra mashed potato, it is a good idea to add more cheese and onion!! Overall rating: 6/10 (from family) We served it with an amazing green salad, and fruit salad for dessert.

Did you know that if you accidentally use 200 KG of cheese instead of 200g it completely ruins the receipe and your kitchen and oven and afternoon
