TOAD IN THE HOLE
This easy British recipe will be fast and fun to do as a family or alone.😉
SERVES 6
115g plain flour
pinch of salt
1 egg, beaten
300 ml of milk
450g good quality pork sausages
1 tbsp vegetable oil
extra oil for greasing

Preheat the oven to 220 C

To make the batter, sift the flour and salt together into a mixing bowl.
Make a well in the centre and add the eggs and half the milk. Carefully stir the liquid into the flour until the mixture is smooth
Gradually beat in the remaining milk. Leave to stand for 30 minutes.

Grease 2 20 x 25 cm ovenproof dishes or roasting tins, preferably metal

Prick the sausages and place them in the dish. Sprinkle over the oil and cook the sausages in the oven for 10 minutes, until they are beginning to colour
and the fat has started to run and is sizzling

Remove from the oven and cook for 35 to 45 minutes until the batter is well risen and brown.
Serve immediately
